Evaluation of Land Degradation Status of Soil Series Using Geomatics Techniques

This study aimed assessing the land degradation status of some soil series North Tikrit Agricultural Project using remote sensing data. Part project area (246,555) km2 was selected based on variations in characteristics and agricultural crops. The is located between longitudes 43˚ 12′ 30ʹʹ 27′ E latitudes 35˚ 15′ 00ʹʹ 0′ N. includes five series: Hatra, Jareesh, Safa, Seneyah, Shurqat. Forty-four samples covering these were collected from surface layer (0-30 cm). chemical properties determined, including pH, Electric Conductivity (EC), calcium carbonate content, gypsum cation exchange capacity, organic matter content. Two Landsat satellite images employed for calculation vegetation spectral indices. One two acquired 15 June, 2002 while other 25 2022. indices concern encircled three (Advanced Vegetation Index (AVI), Specific Leaf Area (SLAVI), Structure Insensitive Pigment (SIPI)) (Bare Soil (BSI), Modified Bare (MBSI), Normalized Difference (NDBSI)). results show that there are values various computed during periods were, general, lower 2022 than 2002.
